What “structured” means
A structured hat has a backing behind the front panels that holds the crown upright. Set it on a table and it keeps its shape. Most trucker hats, snapbacks and fitted caps are structured.

What “unstructured” means
An unstructured hat has no stiff backing in the front. The crown is soft and folds flat, and the hat sits lower on the head. This is the classic “dad hat.”
